CHILDREN
We believe
that knowing Jesus makes a true and
lasting difference in the lives of children as well as adults. Our activities aim to
introduce children to God and to God’s story, especially through the life and
teaching of Jesus. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me; don’t stop
them; for life in God’s kingdom belongs to people who accept it the way a child
would.” Our aim is not just to nurture children but also
to support
parents by affirming and encouraging their role as parents, and supporting
their efforts to raise their children to know Jesus and experience God’s love.
Our activities to encourage spiritual
growth in the lives of pre-school and primary-school age children are:
Sundays
Our
10.00am service each Sunday at St James, New Town, includes a children’s
message and other activities. Recent
themes for the children’s learning activities include “Journey with Jesus”
following the life and teaching of Jesus, “Treasure Seekers” focusing on the
character of God, and “Rock-Solid
Followers” based on the teaching in the letters of Paul and set around a
camping and hiking theme.
Inspired for Life!
Inspired for Life! is a monthly 'messy church' event. Children meet together with their parents,
grandparents or carers for a meal and an interactive group activity which involves the children
in a learning/growing experience.

Safe Church Communities
We
believe all people are entitled to feel safe and protected. We take the
safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults very seriously and commit
ourselves to ensuring our congregations and programs are safe places. Everyone
working with vulnerable persons is trained and endorsed through ChildSafe. You can find out more
information and read our policies on the Safe Church Communities page of the Anglican Church of Tasmania website. All staff/helpers involved in
leading activities with children and vulnerable adults have current Working
with Vulnerable People registration through the
Department of Justice, Tasmania.
