WEDDINGS
Congratulations on your decision to marry! We would be delighted to
share this special occasion with you. Making a commitment to someone for
life before God, the Christian faith community, and your family and friends is a
very special time in your relationship. This page will provide you with information to help you answer some
questions you may have about getting married here. Please contact us so we can arrange for you
to meet with one of our ministers.
Why is a wedding a sacred occasion?
We understand that some people come to get married here because of our
beautiful, historic buildings. It is also important to remember that the
wedding service is a sacred occasion. When a couple comes to make their vows as
husband and wife, in a church community, it should mean that they desire the
blessing of God on their marriage.
The marriage ceremony is focused on the two of you and your vows of
loyalty and love to each other; vows which you make before God and God’s
people. Because the wedding is a Christian ceremony it is important that all
that is done and said is in keeping with the Christian faith.
How do we plan our wedding ceremony?
One of our ministers will help you plan and personalize your wedding so
that it will reflect you and your relationship. When you first meet with the
minister, he or she will talk through all the options with you and help you to
choose readings, prayers and music. As we are affiliated with the Anglican
Church of Australia, weddings in our church communities follow the traditions of
the Anglican Church. An Anglican wedding ceremony includes: Welcome, Readings
& Prayers, Address, Consent & Vows, Signing the Marriage Certificates,
and a Blessing.
How do we book our wedding?
There are many different events and activities taking place in our
buildings throughout the year so early bookings are recommended. Please be sure
to allow plenty of notice, and that you discuss the date and time of your
wedding with the minister, before
making other arrangements. He/she will discuss the wedding process with you and
if a wedding date is then agreed she/he will probably wish to see you on two or
three more occasions, including the wedding rehearsal. These meetings will be
for both marriage preparation and to plan the wedding ceremony.
To
assist with the maintenance of our historic church buildings wedding fees
apply. The minister can advise you of the current wedding fees when you contact
us.
